If you're worried about the pump at all, prime it by removing the tower cap (the tall "tower" on the pump body with the big screw cap).there's a spring and barrel under it.remove those and kick the bike or spin the motor with the plug wires off (if you have an electronic ignition, GROUND the plug wires to the engine) and crank it 'til some oil comes out of that tower. Once the engine is installed and when you connect up the oil lines to the tank, after you fill the tank with oil remove the feed line at the pump and let some oil drain from it, to ensure the oil is readily available right at the pump.
